In The Answer vs. Ahrefs
You should know why AI recommends someone else.
Imagine asking AI for the kind of service your business provides.
In this article
You know the work. You know the questions customers ask before they buy.
You've put time into your website and money into your marketing.
Then you read the answer.
Your competitors are there. You aren't.
What do you change?
That's the question In The Answer is built to help you answer. And it's why we believe we're the better choice for businesses and agencies that want to do something with their AI visibility data.
Comparison checked October 30, 2026.
Finding the gap should lead somewhere.
Ahrefs Brand Radar can help you research competitors and inspect AI answers. It has a large searchable index and supports custom questions with scheduled tracking. Those are useful tools.
But finding out that another business appears is the beginning of the work.
You still need to decide whether the question fits your customers. You need to read what the answer actually says. Then someone has to figure out what deserves attention on your website.
In The Answer connects those steps.
We help you choose relevant buyer questions and review which businesses get recommended. You can inspect the saved answers and available source references. Then you can turn a supported gap into content your team can work on.
The result should be something you can act on when you open your laptop tomorrow.
Your content should have a reason to exist.
Say you sell booking software for small salons.
Your app sends appointment reminders. But your website barely explains how they work. Meanwhile, a competitor keeps appearing when you test questions about reducing missed appointments.
That gives you something specific to investigate.
You might need a clearer product page. You might need a demonstration that shows the reminder a customer receives. A useful social post could explain the setup.
Now the content has a job.
In The Answer helps with website copy, blog drafts, and ideas for posts and images. You can connect that work to the buyer question you're trying to address.
You shouldn't have to keep asking, "Why are we making this?"
You keep your voice. Agencies keep their clients.
You've worked to make your business recognizable. Your content should still sound like you.
We help with the evidence and the drafts. You decide what belongs in your marketing. Your team checks the facts and approves what gets published.
For agencies, that matters just as much.
Your client hired you for your judgment. You know the business and the relationship behind the brief. In The Answer gives you research to work from while you retain control of strategy and creative.
Our agency approach can start with one client and a scoped 90-day pilot. Agree on the buyer questions. Save a baseline. Review the work and measured results at days 30, 60, and 90.
That gives the next client conversation something concrete to stand on.
Yes, we're massive AI nerds.
We care which model ran the check.
We care when it ran and what evidence it received. We care whether a new version changes what you can fairly compare with last month's results.
Those details affect the report you're using to make decisions.
On October 30, our production records showed completed checks across six models:
- GPT-6.1 Sol
- Gemini 3.8 Flash
- Claude Opus 5.5
- DeepSeek V4.1 Flash
- Grok 4.7
- Muse Spark 1.3
Access depends on your plan.
Ahrefs' published coverage differs. It documents Claude Sonnet 4.6 for custom checks. DeepSeek and Muse Spark aren't listed in that coverage. New Grok collection is documented as paused.
Ahrefs also covers experiences outside our lineup, including Copilot and Google's AI search features.
Our responsibility is to make our own checks understandable. Saved answers retain their model and date.
Our methodology explains that we use named model APIs with supplied search evidence. These checks can differ from a customer's personalized session inside an AI app.
You shouldn't need to follow every model announcement to understand what we measured.
Give the campaign something you can measure.
Publishing a new page takes work. So does producing creative or getting a client through approvals.
You deserve a useful way to review what happens afterward.
Keep the original answers. Record what you changed. Check the same buyer questions again over time.
Does your business appear more often in the completed checks? Which competitors still show up? Do different models tell different stories?
Those questions make campaign reviews more useful. An agency can show the work it completed alongside the observed changes. A business owner can decide what deserves another month of effort.
AI answers vary. An improvement doesn't prove one page edit caused it. Pair the visibility evidence with recorded inquiries and confirmed sales where you have them.
That's how you build a more honest picture of campaign effectiveness.
Choose the service that helps you move.
If your main need is broad market research, Ahrefs is worth considering.
If you want a simpler way to connect buyer questions with content work and campaign measurement, we believe In The Answer is the better fit.
