Information we collect
We may collect contact information, account information, company details, website URLs, buyer prompts, support messages, billing metadata, diagnostic logs, and an optional self-reported discovery source. If you accept analytics, we also collect basic website analytics and first- and last-touch acquisition details. The exact information depends on whether you browse the public site, create an account, run an Answer Check, contact support, or use paid monitoring.
How we use information and our legal bases
We use information to provide the website and Insights product, authenticate users, save prompts and answer evidence, generate reports, respond to support requests, process billing, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability. Depending on the activity, we rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, your consent for optional analytics, or a legal obligation.
Cookies and browser storage
Necessary browser storage remembers your analytics choice for up to 180 days. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies and In The Answer stores first- and last-touch acquisition details in your browser. These optional tools are blocked until you accept. Rejecting analytics does not stop you from using the site. Use the Cookie settings button to withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics collection and clears the optional In The Answer browser storage and accessible Google Analytics cookies.
Service providers
We use providers for infrastructure, analytics, payment, email, forms, and AI workflows. Google Analytics receives website analytics only after consent. Other providers process information only as needed to deliver the service, protect the product, or support customer workflows. Contracts and transfer safeguards must be reviewed for each provider.
Acquisition and conversion measurement
If you accept analytics and move from the public site to Insights, first-party attribution fields such as source, medium, campaign, landing page, referring host, and AI referral category may be carried into signup. An optional 'How did you hear about us?' answer may also be stored. Server-confirmed purchases may be sent to analytics with a transaction identifier, currency, value, plan, and non-personal account or brand identifier. Raw email addresses and names are not included in those purchase events.
Prompt and report data
Buyer prompts, company names, websites, answer results, source notes, and competitor observations are product data. We use them to provide the requested answer-monitoring workflow and related support. Do not submit confidential personal data inside prompts.
Retention
Browser consent and optional acquisition details expire after 180 days unless you make a new choice. Account, product, billing, support, security, and analytics records are kept only for the documented period needed for their purpose, legal obligations, disputes, backups, or abuse prevention. The backend retention schedule is being formalized so each data class has a defined deletion or anonymization rule.
International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the EEA. Before using a provider for EEA personal data, In The Answer must confirm an applicable transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live and the reason for processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a portable copy of your personal information. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time and may complain to your local data protection authority. Email support@intheanswer.ai to make a request. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, billing, or backup reasons.
